New York Jets offensive lineman Xavier Newman was stretchered off of the field and taken to the hospital after taking a hit to the head on The Pittsburgh Steelers were in the process of returning an interception when linebacker Patrick Queen made inadvertent helmet-to-helmet contact with Newman.
The guard fell backward and hit his head on the ground after the push from Queen.
Newman remained on the ground for several minutes after the play and didn’t initially appear to be moving.
Jets medical personnel needed to bring in a stretcher to stabilize his head and neck before carting him off of the field.
